Any active cyclists out there, trying to sniff out any upcoming road bicycle tournaments?

Being in top shape, an active cyclist, I often ride over 30 miles per day. I am well aware that there are many others like me out there. We should group up, and have an official tournament, with prizes. Maybe I am being dellusional, then perhaps could somebody point a direction where I could start searching. Also, if things go as planned, where could I get sponsership for the high tech equipment and gear.

Go to the local bike shop and ask about the local cycling club. More than likely something *is* already set up. See if there is a local group ride. They usually get together on a week night, like Tuesdays or whatever, or have a Saturday morning ride. If you can hang with the A/B bunch (groups are rated according to the average speed and fitness of the group’s riders) then you’ll certainly hear about upcoming races.
Once you start nailing the locals to the wall, then the sponsorship stuff will come in to play.

The official governing body of bicycle racing in the US is USA cycling.
If you want to race under international amateur rules governed by the International Olympic Committee or as a Pro, you sign up there.
But as another guy said, every town has informal, club rides every weekend and many weeknights. Even though they aren’t formal “races” … well, you get a bunch of guys together, they’re going to compete.
Stay safe, it ain’t worth dying over.
