not sure but i once seen a guy in a dirt bike (mx) bike on a busy highway…

The opposite direction you plan to travel with traffic lights and stop signals stop signs etc reflectors arent bad idea but not required.
The us you mean by highway in the us bicycles are prohibited on other roads in the us you generally need only lights front and stop.
