Most Cyclists Appreciate The Lightweight Bike
It was a life-altering decision to focus on buying mountain bike. The racing rider wants it for speed. The light weight contributes to that. It is also more fun for the recreational rider to have a light weight bike for riding uphill trails. The padded seat was important too.
As recreational riders, they were not concerned about racing, but light weight bikes were still better. As they rode at a leisurely pace, they got a moderate cardio workout without doing it on a treadmill inside the house. A warm, but not hot day was the perfect day to get out on the trail. It was 65, the perfect weather for a ride.
Although Jeana did appreciate the exercise factor, she rode mainly for recreational purposes. She needed light weight, a cushioned seat on her bike and some cool clothes. Today she wore pearl izumi shorts and a green sports bra. Armed with sunglasses and sun block, she was ready for the challenge of an uphill ride to the top of the hill.
Riding up a hill is always a surprise to the first-time rider. It doesn’t look hard because the incline is always gradual. But after a certain length of time, her legs had begun to shake and she could feel the calf muscles tensing. She felt sweaty and her hands were slippery. It was a relief to stop under a shade tree to rest.
Her water bottle provided still-cool refreshment. Later in the day the water would be tepid, however, still better than nothing to keep her hydrated. Everyone sat in the shade drinking and chatting for about ten minutes.
It was time to continue. These mountain bikes were the best things they had ever invested in. Every time they talked about it, she and John wondered why they waited so long to get rid of those old, heavy bikes. They had been so hard to go uphill on.
They took good care of these fantastic new diamondback bikes. When they got home they would get out the hose and wash them. The money spent was a good investment in fun, they decided. Putting their sweaty helmets back on, they journeyed up the hill.
The sounds along the way were of birds singing and little animals scattering up and down trees. The squirrels seemed to watch them as they rode by. Now they had almost reached the top of what they liked to call a mountain. It was a little joke between them since it was really just a rather high hill. Still, the view from the top was very pleasant. They sat under another shade tree, sipped half-warm water and talked about how soon they should eat the nutrition bars they had in their pockets.
