rivers. Pontoons with paddle wheels built in to turn generators to produce electricity 24/7. They could be enlarged with exercise equipment in them, eg bicycles, connected to the turning shafts. Useful exercise. Pontoons could be chained to the river banks to ride up and down with the water levels.
I have seen small scale of same on ranches in the west. Nonpolluting, cheap, connected to the grid. Easily maintained.
